Edward Kennedy was born in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, in 1960. He graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design in 1983 with distinction and he received his Masters in Fine Art at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1989. Having spent some years painting in New York, he now lives in Dublin.

Edward currently shows at the Hillsboro Fine Art Gallery in Dublin. Prior to that he showed at the Paul Kane Gallery in Dublin. He has also had solo shows at the River Run Gallery in Limerick, the Tom Caldwell Gallery in Dublin, the Piedmont Gallery in Augusta, Kentucky and in the Vine Street Studios in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has shown in national group shows such as Íontas, the Claremorris Open, Oireachtas and EVA and in international group shows in London, Berlin, New York, Kentucky, Chicago and North Dakota. He was an invited artist at Éigse 2000.
